GP7 WIN - Windows blue screen during Guitar Pro 7 launch

Configuration

Guitar Pro 7

Windows OS

Symptoms:

You recently updated your Windows Operating System and since then experience a Windows blue screen (aka Blue Screen Of Death) each time you try to open Guitar Pro 7.

One of your driver is faulty.

Guitar Pro 7 is not faulty here and this issue is not related to our scope of support, however following these few steps will help you fix this behavior.

Solution:

Windows 32 Bit:

  • Open the Windows registry (Start -> Run -> Regedit)
  • Locate the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO
  • Change the ASIO for `ASIO_`

 Windows 64 Bit:

  • Open the Windows registry (Start -> Run -> Regedit)
  • Locate the key HKEY__LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\ASIO
  • Change the ASIO for `ASIO_`

You should now be able to open Guitar Pro 7 properly.

It isolates the root cause of your issue to one of your drivers.

Delete this driver entry. Download and install the latest version of this driver.

At this stage we can not tell you which one, even if there is a high probability that the one involved is ASIO4ALL. You can locate and delete this driver as previously explained.

Warning: Do not make any other change to your Windows Registry. We do not take any responsibility for improper modifications.
